Instructions for reaching Séjours & Affaires Park Avenue:

From the Airport Saint Exupéry: At the airport follow the signs for the Rhônexpress (the railway shuttle surface between Lyon Saint Exupéry and Lyon center). The shuttle runs every 15 minutes and takes approximately 30 minutes to reach Lyon Part Dieu train station. It will take you to Part Dieu Villette  (the east entrance to the Lyon Part Dieu train station). Enter the train station from Porte des Alpes, and cross the station from east to west and exit the station from Porte Rhône onto  Part Dieu Vivier Merle (the west entrance to the station). Immediately outside Porte Rhône as you exit the station you will see the entrance for the Metro B line.  Take the escalator down to the metro and take Metro B in the direction of Gare d'Oullins.  The following link TCL Map (Metro, Tram) contains a map of the metros and tramways in Lyon. Exit the metro at Place Jean Jaurès. The residence  is located just outside the entrance to the metro on 2 rue Marie Madeleine Fourcade.

From the Lyon Part Dieu Train Station:  Exit the station from Porte Rhône onto  Part Dieu Vivier Merle (the west entrance to the station). Exit the metro at Place Jean Jaurès. The residence  is located just outside the entrance to the metro on 2 rue Marie Madeleine Fourcade.

Instructions for accessing the conference:

Both the School and Conference will take place at the University Lyon 1 in Villeurbanne. Whether you are staying at Séjours & Affaires Park Avenue or Séjours & Affaires Saxe Gambetta, take the metro B in the direction of Charpennes. Exit the metro at Charpennes (the very last stop). Take the escalator up, cross the street to reach the tramway stop for the T1 and T4 (see map of Charpennes). Take either the tramway T1 (direction IUT Feyssine) or the tramway T4 (direction La Doua Gaston Berger). Exit the tram at Université Lyon 1 (the 3rd stop). The conference will take place in the salle Fontannes in building Darwin D (see Map of Campus). Darwin is the building immediately adjacent to the tram stop (on the same side of the tracks). As you exit the tram you are facing Darwin. The entrance to Darwin D will be to your right as you face the building when you exit the tram. Simply backtrack about 100ft in the direction you came from with the tram. The salle  Fontannes is immediately to your left as you enter on the ground floor of Darwin D. 

To return to the residence, simply backtrack the above instructions. Cross the tram tracks and take either the tramway T1 (direction Debourg) or the tramway T4 (direction Hôpital Feyzin Vénissieux).  Exit the tramway at Charpennes and take the metro B in the direction of Gare d'Oullins. 

Note: For those arriving in Lyon later in the week and who wish to go directly from the airport or train station to the conference, then use the above instructions to get to the Lyon Part Dieu station. From there you may take either the tramway T1 at  Part Dieu Vivier Merle in the direction of IUT Feyssine or alternatively the tramway T4 at Part Dieu Villette in the direction of la Doua Gaston Berger. In either case get off the tramway at Université Lyon 1.

Note: The TCL tickets should be validated each time you take a bus, tramway or metro. For the buses and tramways the validation machines are located near the doors as you board the bus or tramway. For the metro, you need to insert the ticket through a validation machine in order to access the metro.  Each ticket is valid for one hour from the time of first validation; a single ticket allows you to take any bus, tramway or metro as many times as you wish within the hour.

Conference Dinner

The conference dinner will take place at Maison Villemanzy (25 Montée Saint-Sébastien, 69001 Lyon). The dinner starts at 7:30pm. No dress code required.

• Take metro A from Charpennes in direction of Perrache.
• Exit Metro A at Hotel de Ville
  
• Head north from Hotel de Ville to Place Louis Pradel
  
• Cross Place Louis Pradel (big square with fountain)
  
• Take rue du Griffon (there is a boulangerie called Le Fournil de l'Opera on the corner)
  
• Continue up rue Griffon
  
• Turn slightly right then left up Montée Saint-Sébastien
